Shape/form
According to Kirkebye (2016), shape is a two-dimensional, flat enclosed area such as a circle or a square, and form refers to objects having three-dimensions (height, width, and depth) such as a cube, cylinder, or a sphere. Most of the photographs I found dealing with shape and form were photographs of form more than of shape. However, the header photo that I included at the top of this page shows shapes. Some of my photographs on this page show geometric forms such as spheres and rectangular prisms. Another photograph on this page shows more irregular forms like the three-dimensional form of an apple or other piece of fruit. My favorite image from this section shows a face mug that my daughter made in a pottery class. I love being able to see three-dimensional forms on this coffee mug, and I love the detail that it has on the face. There are shapes and forms all around us, and it was fun finding them and photographing a few of my favorites.
