contrast
The principle of contrast in photography is all about extreme differences. This could be extreme differences in color or perhaps light and dark. The header photograph on this page shows a contrast in colors, from the green of the leaves to the bright fuchsia color of the flowers. The first image in the showcase section shows an iguana sunbathing, but the reason that I chose it for contrast is all of the light and shadows that surround the iguana. The second image is an image of my daughter’s shoe, and the contrast is in the bright hot pink of the shoelaces and the rich black color of the shoe. The third photograph shows a cave at the Mayan ruins of Tulum. The contrast is in the bright light outside of the cave and the dark shadows inside the cave. The last showcase image shows some beautiful flowers that have very contrasting colors, a dark, rich brown in the middle and a bright, vibrant yellow on the petals.
