patterns and repetition
Patterns and repetition occur through all throughout our world, and it was interesting looking for patterns in the world that exists around me. According to Flye (2011), repetition is the repeated use of shape, color, or another element in an image, and patterns are groups of elements that repeat in a predictable way. The title image of this page is actually a close-up image of one of my daughter’s headbands. This headband was made in Nicaragua and has worry dolls making a pattern all along it. The first showcase photograph is of a cemetery. The gravestones make a pattern, and the pattern is broken up a little bit by the darker color gravestones. The second pattern and repetition photograph is a display of handmade bowls from Mexico. The bowls all have different patterns, but the bowls put together make one large pattern-like repetition. The third image is our pot rack. There are some differences in the pots, but they show repetition and pattern when you look at them as a whole. The last image is a row of hand-painted birdhouses. They are all a little bit different, but together, they make a nice patterned repetition.
