leading lines
Leading lines occur when naturally occurring lines lead the eye to one specific point in the photograph. When I started this photography project, lines, especially leading lines, were some of the first images I started seeing everywhere I looked. I selected a few of my favorites to showcase on this page. The header image is a different angle from one of the shots that I took of hardwood floors for the showcase section of this page. Due to the fact that some of this image was cut off because of the long and narrow header space, you can’t actually see the point at the end of the leading lines, but it is insinuated that these lines would eventually lead to one point. The first showcase image is titled The Road to the Clouds because it looks like to road leads directly to the clouds. The leading lines are the edges of the road, the guardrails, and the telephone lines. The second image is also a road, but it looks like the leading lines of this road lead directly to Mount Yonah. The third image is a better image of the hardwood floors at my office, and you can see that the lines eventually converge to a point. The last image shows the leading lines along the edge of the river. Also, it looks like the children are lined up and heading to the same point that the edges of the river are headed.
