rhythm
When you think about rhythm in music, you usually think about a repetition or pattern of percussion beats that form an interesting sound. In photography, rhythm is very similar. Rhythm is the repeated use of a shape, color, or other element in an image, which makes an interesting image (Flye, 2011). The header photo on this page is a pattern from a piece of fabric from Nicaragua. It almost felt like a visual music rhythm. The first photograph I selected to showcase for the rhythm principle was a photograph of our weight set. It has a repetition and pattern within the set that really spoke to me as rhythm. The second showcase photo, an image of a Veteran’s Memorial, had rhythm within the flags and within the memorial statues. I also chose to showcase the flags at the Old Sautee Store as the rhythm within that photograph. Lastly, I chose to share an image of my daughter’s Minnie Mouse cupcakes. There was rhythm and repetition in the rows of cupcakes.
